DUTCH OPEN 18/19th March 2006
Southport Aerobic Gymnastics Demo dance team have just arrived back from Holland where they competed in the Dutch open last weekend. This freestyle dance team event is run every year and is open to competitors from all over Europe.
This trip was made possible with help from the gymnasts schools who contributed from their gifted and talented bursaries.
The team of: Keshia Santos,Kelsie Buck,Erin Hughes,Laura Brown and Abi MacKenzie from Stanley- Emma Scott,Becky Hewitt and Rea Mackarell Formby high and Sophie Morris and Kirsty Brown from Greenbank and Rachel Bromilow from Southport college travelled to Vianen in the Netherlands on Friday morning ready for the competition on Saturday.
Following a qualifying round on Saturday the team beat 10 European clubs to get into the finals!
The contest on Sunday was awesome with all of the teams competing in a different costume from the day before...........................we had only the one!!!
The team were delighted to get placed 5th in the final, the highest placing for a GB team to date!! The club now look forward to the elite grades in Swansea on Sunday
