Welcome to
Southport Aerobic Gymnastics
Welsh open June 2011

At the Welsh Aerobic Gymnastics Championship in June, Southport
Aerobic Gymnastics achieved personal best scores, target scores and
introduced new gymnasts to the competition floor.

On the Friday, the RAC competition began, with 4 of our new gymnasts;
Brooke Shotton, Freya Abrams, Olivia Dodgins and Niamh Edmunds
performing outstanding routines and scoring the highest artistic scores
in their category. Brooke came away with her first bronze medal, closely
followed behind by Freya coming 5th and Olivia coming 6th out of 16
competitors.

We then had the fabulous
'Gummy Bears' routine,
which included Niamh,
Brooke and Olivia, who
came 1st with a score of
12.250. The girls brought a
smile to everyone's faces as
they performed their
cheeky trio!
The day then moved onto the Foundation and National
Development routines.
Ellie Homewood competed in her 2nd competition this
year and scoring a new personal best of 13.200 coming
7th in her category.
In the National Development Category, Freya Dodgins
competed as an individual performer for the first time
and blew us all away with her routine on the floor,
coming 10th! With Lydia Browne (11th) Molly Glinn
(15th) and Sacha Sykes (20th) all performing beautiful
routines.
Sacha, Lydia and Freya all then returning together for
their trio coming home with a Silver medal.

Cerys Mellor, our only FIG
Nat-Dev gymnast came 9th in her
category and was later joined by
Molly, for their Pairs routine
coming a well-deserved 2nd with
a score of 14.000.

Saturday started with
the NAC Group 1
category, where Emily
Dodds came 7th
The day then continued onto the FIG Group 1 category,
Skye Shotton and Naomi Parkinson scoring a personal
best of 16.350!
After a long weekend, the final
day of the competition came
around, starting with the NAC
Group 2 category and our only
competitor Hollie Pomford
taking to the floor with her 'Jai
Ho' routine.
Olivia Parkinson
scored 15.450 coming
1st in her second
competition in the
NAC Senior category.
After lunch our FIG competitors took to the floor. Rachael Briscoe was first out of
the Group 2 section, scoring her target score of 16.000. Shannon Rigby scored 16.150,
beating her target score. Keimoy St.Hill performed a magnificent routine, scoring
her personal best in the UK, with 17.150!
Katy Longden, now competing in the FIG Senior category, performed a stunning
routine scoring 17.600!
Skye and Naomi then took to the floor again for their pair's
routine, unfortunately having a chair deduction of 1.0, the
girls scored 14.750 missing out on a bronze medal!

Lastly Shannon and Rach competed in the Group 2 FIG pairs
category, coming away with a Gold medal.

All the gymnasts worked extremely hard and we are so proud of each of them!

The coaches for the weekend, Keshia, Hollie and myself were impressed with all the
gymnasts and hope they all get working even harder to push for medal positions and
wish them the best of luck for the next competition.
